What is Emmaus? It is a Christian retreat put on by men of this parish, where you will spend the weekend with newfound friends in the presence of the Lord. Emmaus gets its name from the Gospel of Luke 24: 13–35, wherein Luke recounts that first Easter afternoon when the risen Christ appeared along the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus.

Like the majority of the persons who are blinded by their preoccupation with their own immediate problems, these two disciples’ sadness and hopelessness seemed to prevent them from seeing God’s redemptive purpose in the things that had happened. And yet, the risen Christ “came near and went with them”, opening disciples eyes to His presence and lighting the fire of God’s love in their hearts.

The Emmaus movement is ecumenical. We invite involve Christians of all denominations. Emmaus also seeks to foster Christian unity and to reinforce the whole Christian community. This is one of the great strengths and enjoys of the Emmaus movement.

Why Emmaus? We all need to take time away from the hustle of today’s world. This is your opportunity to set some time apart for yourself, to reflect, to share, and to learn about Jesus.

What happens during the retreat? The walk to Emmaus offers retreatants an opportunity to rediscover Christ’s presence in their lives, to gain a fresh understanding of God’s grace, and to form friendships that foster faith and support spiritual maturity.

How much does it cost? Other than volunteer retreat team members, there is no charge to attend retreat, a gift made possible from the parish’s Men’s Emmaus ministry semi-annual fundraisers and donations (any remaining funds after the retreat are donated to our parish). However, you are more than welcomed to make donations at any time payable to “Men’s Emmaus” and drop-off at our church’s rectory.

Can I bring a friend? Everyone is always welcomed. However, each person attending must complete and submit registration form no later than 12:00 noon the day before retreat starts to insure proper accommodations. Space limited to 50 retreatants.
